How to use apps by Benke Smith on both Android and iOS
I'll show you how to connect your
iOS and Android accounts, and use the same
FULL version of the app
on both platforms. The video below only shows steps 2-4, read the complete tutorial below. This guide is valid for
all magic apps by Benke Smith that use the "Sign in with Apple / Google" feature.
Step 1: Add your Gmail address to your Apple ID
You can do it on your iPhone (Settings - Apple ID - Name, Phone Numbers, Email) or on the WEB (
appleid.apple.com/account/manage). Simply add the same Gmail address that your Google account has, in the section "REACHABLE AT" (or "CONTACTABLE AT"). This address will be saved as a backup (secondary) email address to your Apple ID.
IMPORTANT: since summer 2024 you can only share your
PRIMARY email address in apps that you sign in with your Apple ID, so this means you have to add the Gmail address as the primary address. To do this, first
add the Gmail address as a secondary email, then
remove your original email (this will make the Gmail address the primary email), and
re-add your old email address as a secondary email. While this process seems to be complicated, it can be done in 1-2 minutes.
Step 2: Stop using the Apple ID with the app (iOS)
In the iOS version of teh app you have the option to sign in with your Apple ID. If you have done it before, the app is registered and can use your Apple ID. You can undo this on your iPhone by going to "Settings - Apple ID - Password & Security - Apps using Apple ID", and look for TimeSmith. If you don't see the app in the list, you can skip to the next step. To stop using your Apple ID with the app, just tap on the icon of the app, and then select "Stop Using Apple ID" (shown in red), and confirm ("Stop Using").
Step 3: Signing in using the Gmail address (iOS)
Start the app, go to the Settings page, and in the section "USER SETTINGS" tap your account number, and select "Sign out". Then tap the button "Sign in with Apple", and in the "Sign in" panel tap on "Share My Email", then select your Gmail address and tap "Continue". Enbter your passcode (or use Face ID) to sign in.
Step 4: Checking if your Gmail address is shared (iOS)
In the app go to the Settings page, and in the section "USER SETTINGS" tap your account number. On the new popup page you should see "Logged in with Apple", and below your email address and account number. If you see your Gmail address, then you've successfully connected your iOS and Android accounts.
If you follow the above steps, you'll have the
same email address registered on iOS and Android. If you activate the FULL version on one platform, you'll be able to use it also on the other platform. You can sign in to the same Apple / Google account on all your devices, and you'll have the same
FULL access for the app.
